Blanco — Fragrance-Free Whipped Tallow & Honey Body Butter

Blanco is the plain one. Grass-fed tallow, raw and unfiltered Texas honey, and vitamin E, whipped soft. Nothing added for scent, nothing added to hold it together, nothing added to keep it on a shelf.

It's the one to reach for if your skin has been reacting to things. Fragrance is the ingredient dermatologists name first when skin objects to a product, and that counts for botanical fragrance as much as synthetic. There isn't any in here.

Fragrance-free doesn't mean odourless

Blanco smells faintly of tallow and honey, because that is what it's made of. Fragrance-free means nothing was added to make it smell like something else. Products sold as unscented have often had a masking scent added to cancel out a base odour, which is a different thing and worth knowing when you read any label.

We render the tallow ourselves, wet and dry both. Wet rendering with salted water takes out the beefy note people expect from beef fat, and dry rendering drives off the water. What's left is pale and close to neutral. It will never smell of nothing, and we'd rather tell you that than have you open the jar surprised.

Why we're strict about the cattle

Our producers raise cattle on grass, 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, with no added hormones, no antibiotics, no mRNA vaccines, no glyphosate on the fields and no grain finishing.

That standard matters more for tallow than it does for beef, and it's the part most people never think about. Hormones, pesticide residues and a long list of industrial compounds are fat-soluble. They don't pass through an animal, they store in its fat. With a tallow butter that fat is the entire product, so we hold it to a higher bar than we would a steak.

What's in it

Grass-fed, grass-finished beef tallow. Rendered in small batches from suet. Its fatty acid composition is close to the oil your own skin makes, which is why it absorbs instead of sitting on the surface.

Raw and unfiltered Texas honey. A humectant. It draws moisture toward the skin and holds it there. Never heated.

Vitamin E oil. An antioxidant that keeps the fat from oxidising. With no water in the formula, that's the only shelf-life job left, which is why there's no preservative in here.

How to use it

Warm a small amount between your fingertips until it melts, then work it into slightly damp skin. A pea-sized amount does a face. Give it a minute. If it feels greasy after that, use less next time.

Once or twice a day, and more on the rough spots: elbows, knuckles, heels, shins. If your skin is reactive, patch-test on your inner forearm and leave it a full day before going further.

Firmer in winter, softer in summer. That's a fat with nothing added to stabilise it, behaving the way it should.
