Vitamin E Oil for Skin: What It Does, and Why It Earns Its Place Twice
Vitamin E oil is good for skin. It's a fat-soluble antioxidant that protects skin cell membranes from oxidative damage and stabilizes fat-based formulas without synthetic preservatives.
That second job is why it's in the body butters: it earns its place twice, once for your skin and once for the shelf life of the jar.

The Ingredient
What Is Vitamin E Oil for Skin?
Vitamin E (tocopherol) is a fat-soluble vitamin and antioxidant naturally found in the fat tissue of grass-fed animals and in plant oils. Applied topically, it integrates into the lipid layer of the skin and protects cell membranes from free radical damage, the oxidative stress that wears on the barrier over time.
Tallow from grass-fed cattle already contains naturally occurring vitamin E. We add tocopherol oil because the concentration in rendered tallow alone is not sufficient to meaningfully extend the product shelf stability. The result: your skin gets more vitamin E, and the product doesn't oxidize before you finish the jar.

Vitamin E for Scars: What the Research Actually Shows
Lots of people use vitamin E on scars, and the evidence here is mixed. Some studies have not shown a clear improvement in scar appearance, while others and a great deal of personal experience report a benefit, so we won't overclaim in either direction.
What vitamin E is documented to do is antioxidant protection: it helps defend skin lipids and cell membranes against oxidative stress, and it supports the skin barrier. That's the honest, best-supported reason it's in our formulas. If you want to try it on a scar, plenty of people do. We're just not going to promise you a result the research doesn't back.

Vitamin E Oil for Face: How It Works
Vitamin E oil is lipophilic, it mixes readily with other oils and fats, absorbs without sitting on top of skin, and does not require dilution before applying to most skin types. In a tallow balm, it is fully integrated into the formula.
Blanco, our fragrance-free body butter, is grass-fed tallow, raw honey and vitamin E oil. Nothing else. The vitamin E isn't a footnote on that list, it's doing real work.

Why Vitamin E Is in the Body Butters
Three reasons. First: antioxidant protection for your skin. Second: it keeps a fat-based formula from oxidizing, without synthetic stabilizers. Third: it's already present in tallow from grass-fed animals, so adding tocopherol concentrates what's there.
We don't use parabens, phenoxyethanol, or any synthetic preservative. In a formula with no water in it, vitamin E is the reason none of that is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does vitamin E oil do for skin?
Two things. First, it's a fat-soluble antioxidant that protects skin cell membranes from oxidative damage, the kind caused by UV exposure and environmental pollutants. Second, it stabilizes fat-based formulas without synthetic preservatives. In a tallow balm, it does both jobs simultaneously.
Is vitamin E oil good for your face?
Yes for most people. Vitamin E oil is non-comedogenic, absorbs well in a fat-based carrier, and delivers antioxidant protection without disrupting the skin barrier. The small percentage of people who react to it typically react to the carrier oil it's diluted in, not the tocopherol itself.
Does vitamin E oil help with scars?
The honest answer is: the research is mixed. Some studies show no improvement in scar appearance from topical vitamin E. Others, and a lot of personal experience, report a benefit. We won't overclaim it either way. What's well-documented is that vitamin E provides antioxidant protection and supports the skin barrier. If you reach for it on scars, that's reasonable, just don't expect a guarantee.
Is vitamin E oil safe for sensitive skin?
Generally yes. Vitamin E is well-tolerated, non-comedogenic, and doesn't disrupt the skin barrier. In our formula, the carrier is grass-fed tallow, no seed oils, no synthetic stabilizers, which is exactly the kind of minimal ingredient list sensitive skin tends to tolerate well.
Can you put vitamin E oil directly on skin?
Yes, though pure tocopherol oil is very thick and viscous on its own. In a tallow balm it's fully integrated into the formula, so you don't need to apply it separately. If you're using it straight from a capsule, dilute it into a carrier oil or balm first.
What are the benefits of vitamin E for skin?
Antioxidant protection against free radical damage. Support for the skin's lipid barrier. Natural preservation of fat-based formulas without synthetic stabilizers. And it's already present in grass-fed tallow, so adding tocopherol oil concentrates what nature put there.
Why is vitamin E in skincare products?
Two reasons. It protects the skin from oxidative stress. And it extends the shelf life of oil-based formulas without parabens or phenoxyethanol. That second reason is why it shows up in almost every natural skincare product: it's the cleanest preservative available for fat-based formulas.
