The Alamo is our whipped tallow and honey body butter with a scent to it, made for face and body both. The same base as Blanco, grass-fed tallow and raw and unfiltered Texas honey whipped soft with vitamin E, and then frankincense resin oil for a fresh, clean note that settles in and fades within a few minutes.
It melts at body heat rather than sitting on top of the skin, which is what tallow does that a lotion can't. A pea-sized amount covers a face. A thumbnail does arms and legs. Most people use less than they expect to.
Why we're strict about the cattle
Our producers raise cattle on grass, 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, with no added hormones, no antibiotics, no mRNA vaccines, no glyphosate on the fields and no grain finishing.
That standard matters more for tallow than it does for beef, and it's the part most people never think about. Hormones, pesticide residues and a long list of industrial compounds are fat-soluble. They don't pass through an animal, they store in its fat. With a tallow butter that fat is the entire product, so we hold it to a higher bar than we would a steak.
What's in it
Grass-fed, grass-finished beef tallow. Rendered by us in small batches from suet, wet and dry both. Wet rendering takes out the beefy smell people expect from beef fat; dry rendering drives off the water. Its fatty acid composition is close to the oil your own skin makes.
Raw and unfiltered Texas honey. A humectant, which means it draws moisture toward the skin and holds it rather than coating the surface. Never heated, so nothing about it has been cooked out.
Vitamin E oil. An antioxidant that keeps the fat from oxidising, which is the only shelf-life job left once there's no water in a formula. It's why this needs no preservative.
Wild-harvested organic frankincense resin oil. Boswellia frereana resin from Somaliland, wild grown and certified organic, hydrodistilled. It's here for the smell, and we'd rather say that plainly than dress it up.
How to use it
Warm a small amount between your fingertips until it melts, then work it into slightly damp skin. Straight out of the shower is the best moment for it. Give it a minute to absorb; if it still feels greasy after that, you used more than you needed.
Morning, night, or both. Face, hands, elbows, knees, heels, and the knuckles that split every winter. One jar for all of it.
Worth knowing
It smells faintly of what it's made of, and it always will, because nothing has been added to cover that up. It's firmer in winter and softer in summer, which is what a fat with no stabilisers does.
If your skin reacts easily, start with Blanco instead. It's the same base with nothing added for scent. Either way, patch-test on your inner forearm and give it a day.
Handcrafted in Texas.
